Junior Ranger Scavenger Hunt - Big South Fork NRRA, TN

After attending an earlier program with fellow homeschoolers where we learned about owls and dissected owl pellets, Bibby and I stuck around to earn Double Junior Ranger Honors from Ranger Mary at the Bandy Creek area of the Big South Fork NRRA.

Bibby completed a special scavenger hunt, and worked hard to clean up some trash along the trails surrounding the Visitor Center. In the mean time, Ribby was enjoying a forest tasting, trying to figure out which sticks and leaves were the most delicious!

American Eagle Foundation: Birds of Prey 

The American Eagle Foundation, based out of Pigeon Forge, TN is a national non-profit organization devoted to Bald Eagle rehabilitation, recovery, and breeding programs. They host educational programs in a variety of locations, and we were lucky enough to attend an event as hosted by the Cumberland County Gateway to the Big South Fork Visitor Center located in Crossville, Tennessee.

The ladies that work with this Foundation are incredibly passionate about their job. They make excellent educators and inspire people of all ages to appreciate the amazing birds they work so hard to protect.
